Sometimes it seems like no matter how hard we try, our spiritual practice just. keeps. getting. interrupted. When you keep trying to fight the good fight but just can’t seem to meditate or pray or do your devotions because of illness, children, the dog, the phone—no matter how much effort you’ve put in to guaranteeing that you will have no interruptions—it can seem like the world is against your spiritual progress. But that’s not really the case at all.
The same thing happened to me this week. I planned my time of study, my time of spiritual “work,” and was interrupted on multiple days in multiple ways. Instead of getting angry and frustrated, though, I did my best to go with the flow. And I discovered joy—and a few lessons—in cuddling with my husband, showing my son how to be quiet when the rest of the household was asleep, reading a Dr. Seuss book with my daughter, and going to dinner with my family instead.
I was also unable to prepare and record my latest chapter of YoSaL. When I tried to figure out why on earth I was getting interrupted, despite my best efforts, my guides gave me a very good reminder—which I explain the best I can (my morning spiritual practice also helps keep my train of thought focused) in this week’s video.
