This week, I want to share with you a sort of reunion with an old friend of mine that I experienced in August of 2017. This is a very important relationship to me now, and it has been for years. It’s complex, and I really only realized it’s importance after a series of conversations that happened, beginning with this one. I will likely share more of them, as I find the messages from this conversation so important in my work as a healer, and I believe you will, too, as I was offered words for everyone, particularly healers.
Not long after I had begun my experiment of having conversations with the archangels and ascended masters, I was performing my morning Reiki self-healing when I was informed that I would be speaking with Archangel Raphael in that morning’s meditation.
Once I was done with my Reiki, I began my meditation and opened myself up to Raphael’s energies, welcoming him in to speak directly with him for the first time in years.
I found myself near tears as soon as I felt his calm, healing energy.
“Hello, sweetheart,” he said to me. He smiled gently at me, his hands extended to me, palms up, at waist level, almost as if in request or supplication, and I was reminded that we had worked together after my vision damage occurred in 2009. In fact, at that time, I had erected a small statue of him on my altar, which I had tried to spend time at in prayer and meditation every day. In the intervening years, I had ceased connecting with him every day, though I still felt connected to him.
I began to cry slightly as I considered my once-daily time with him, and I realized I apparently still had some emotions, some disappointments, that were not yet healed from that time.
“Yes, some disappointments,” he told me, still holding his hands out. Otherwise, he waited patiently, silently, in front of me, waiting for me to indicate that I was ready to converse. Though he was not speaking to me, I felt a deep level of understanding; I knew what he was doing, and why, without him telling me. “We have worked together for so long that it is second nature to you to understand me,” he said.
Then I realized that he’s been with me constantly since I called him to me those years ago.
“Nearly, yes,” he said in response.
Full of more tears, I thanked him for his constant presence and his current understanding. I had not expected to cry.
“Some wounds run deep, even when you are not aware of them any longer,” he told me.
I agreed, and then I centered myself. Clearly, my request during my Reiki self-healing that morning for my vision to be healed had hit an emotional nerve.
When I was once again calm, I asked Raphael if he had any special message for me in particular on that day.
“Only this: You are whole. This part of you [your eyes] is broken, but you are whole. I know you don’t want to hear this, but it is true. In fact, you are more whole than you ever could have been, had your vision not been damaged. You know this is true.”
I do know this. After many, many long hours of contemplation and study, I had finally realized, finally become aware that my spirit and body are holistically better than they were before my eyes were damaged, and that was the reason for my eyes being damaged—to serve as a catalyst for that change. I came to that realization years ago.
I acknowledged the realization to Raphael and asked what that meant in terms of my physical vision healing again—whether my physical vision can ever be healed, or whether I “must” stay partially blind.
“It means nothing. I simply felt that you needed the reminder that you are whole, whether your eyes are repaired or not. Now, as I am a healer, I have words for the rest of the world [to share through you].”
I thanked him for the reminder for myself and invited him to share his message for others.
He replied, in a form strikingly similar to that which Apollo had used, “Do yourselves good. Do good.”
“That’s all?” I asked, a little confused. “Could you elaborate, please? How does this pertain to healing?”
He immediately replied:
Doing good generates an energy unlike any other. It heals physically, emotionally, and mentally. It even heals scars. Don’t confuse these with open wounds; scars [are] those wounds that have healed over. Yes, this energy of doing good can heal even your scars. Do kindness, do rightness, bring joy. Do good.
“You know in your heart when something you are doing is not good. Don’t let your brain weigh in too much, for your brain will tell you [that] what you have been taught is right and wrong. Listen to your heart, which instinctively knows what is right and wrong, good and bad.
“Do good, and you will heal yourself and the world. Do good to yourself, too, and for yourself. You cannot heal others if you do not heal yourself—at least not for long. You cannot be an effective healer for long if you do good to others but harm to yourself. You know something is good for you when it makes you feel good—not just momentarily, but in the long run. Sometimes, it won’t feel good in the moment but it will for days after. Always keep an eye on what you’re doing for yourself—look at the good feelings it generates in you in both the short and long term. If the feelings a single act generates are good for a longer time, they are good actions. If you are filled with shame afterward, though you felt good at first, this is not ultimately good for you. Be good to yourself. Do good to yourself.”
This was interesting, and a lot to wrap my mind around. I thanked him and indicated that I thought we needed to be done for the day so I could absorb the implications of what he had said.
In response, he removed his image from my inner sight, though I could still sense him nearby.
As I contemplated his words, I reviewed what Doreen Virtue had written of him in Archangels and Ascended Masters. When I read that healers can call on Archangel Raphael for guidance before or during treatment sessions, and that he “helps would-be healers with their education” and “assists them in establishing their healing practices by attracting wonderful clients,” I felt him nudge me energetically to indicate that I simply need to remember to call on him each time I perform a Reiki session on myself or others, and to call on him for help in building my intuitive and healing business.
He has been nudging me to this work, he told me, since before 2009. He has been my partner in my emotional and physical healing, coming to me in 2009 when I begged for help in the hospital and in my shower, and he has been my partner in my spiritual journey ever since, he told me.
He told me that any time I do a Reiki session, he’s helping me, as healing is his specialty, but that if I remember to call on him specifically, by name, the healing can be much more powerful, because being aware of his specific energy and presence can make the healing that much more stronger and effective.
Ever since that day, I have, indeed, called on Archangel Raphael by name every time I begin a Reiki session for myself or another, and as promised, those sessions have been stronger and more effective.
I have learned much from Raphael in the past few months since calling on him regularly to help me help others. Though many healers have energies and entities they are most comfortable working with, I recommend that everyone—healer or not—call upon Raphael in some way any time you are in need of healing or are attempting to help others heal. His energy is very mellow, calming, and loving. He is present in all ways, and he can help us to also be present and aware, in the moment, for ourselves and others.
Have you felt the healing presence of Archangel Raphael in your life? Are you a healer who calls on someone else for help? I’d love to know. Please email me or comment below. I’d love to hear from you, and I’m sure my other readers would too.
Note:
* Raphael translates as “God Heals.”
