As we approach the holiday season, when so many of us want to be able to focus on “the reasons for the season” yet seem to have some difficulties with that because of the extra demands placed on our time and patience, I’m returning for a few weeks to conversations I had earlier in the year with those whom Doreen Virtue calls Divinities. I do this because these were very uplifting and empowering conversations (for me, at least), and I think we can all benefit. This week seems an appropriate time to share a couple of conversations with Apollo, widely known as a golden Greek god.
One day, rather than request that a particular entity to come speak with me, I asked my guides if anyone in particular wanted to come through to speak with me. I was told that yes, Apollo did. I assumed he had a message ready for me, so rather than do any research and prepare questions to ask him, I went into the conversation without an agenda.
I prepared myself mentally, then said, “Good morning, Apollo. I hear you would like to speak with me. How may I be of service to you this morning?”
A big, booming voice replied, “Ha! ‘Of service’! I want to tell you how much I appreciate what you’re doing. Please take this message to others: Be yourselves golden!”
Confused, I told him, “I’m sorry, but I have no idea what that means.”
“Recognize your divinity, shine like the sun, fulfill your full real potential. Be GOOD to each other!” he replied. “This is what I want everyone to know.”
I thanked him for this message, which I try to pass on to everyone as often as possible, and I asked, “Do you have any particulars on methods or ways? Any special guidance on how we should do that, especially for those who feel they have not been allowed to shine and should not shine?”
“Yes,” he crooned, nearly purring. “My dears, we love you. I love you. The Universe itself loves you. You are perfect beings, created exactly as the Universe and you [in pre-life planning] decreed. You are the perfect embodiment of God’s ‘imperfections.’ But not in the way you think of imperfections. God has no imperfections. WE have no imperfections. ‘We’ includes you [all of humanity]. You are on the Earth to learn how to be all aspects of creation. If you are shy, it is because you are meant to help the Universe, God, better understand how to be shy, and how to overcome being shy, how to do and be everything related to shyness.
“Embrace yourself! Embrace yourself. No, really, do it now! Wrap your arms around yourself and give yourself a giant hug! I’ll wait.”
After I hugged myself, laughing and crying a little, both joyfully, Apollo, with a smile in his voice, spoke again. “There, isn’t that better? Shine, sweethearts. Shine, humans! Shine.”
Then he left, his energy basically seeming to simply disappear, as if a light switch had been turned off. The conversation was over.
Though I don’t recall actually seeing him even mentally, the impression I received of Apollo was of a golden-tanned body, very muscular. He was charming and warm (literally and figuratively). Pure joy emanated from him—like when he walked into a room, everyone brightened. The whole time he spoke with me, my face was wreathed in smiles—so much that my cheeks still ached a few minutes after our conversation had ended. His voice boomed, but brightly. It was hearty and heartening, but it brooked no arguments. After he was gone, I felt energized and light-hearted, which was nice, compared to the mood I had been in before, which had been decidedly aggravated and irritated.
I decided to speak with Apollo again the next day. When I called to him, he appeared before me in a business suit, which was fitting but also seemed too formal for the attitude and personality I was encountering. At my question, he explained that some people respond most to this look, so he would keep it for our conversation. Then he jumped right in, speaking again firmly, though a little less boisterously than the day before.
“Put yourself in touch with your own divinity by being kind to others and being of service to others. This is the surest way to see and affirm to yourself that you are part of this divine Godhead—that we all are. You need know nothing else. You need do nothing else. Shine brightly like the sun, like God, by embracing that side [of yourself]. You can’t turn away from the darkness, [only] face it and shine.
“Embrace your shadow self, for when you embrace it, you surround it with God’s light. Even the shadow self is God, so embrace it. The two [sides] of you must work together, as in the title of Stephanie’s book, Year of Shadow and Light. Shadow is what occurs when the light and the darkness meet and become fully integrated, neither darkness nor light winning out. It is the ultimate compromise, the ultimate win-win. This is the challenge of life as a human. [So many humans] try to overcome your darkness, but really, you must learn to live in balance with it. [Light and dark] are both part of the same whole—not two sides of the same coin, for that implies a certain division, but more like mists held together in a sphere.”
I wasn’t sure what he was talking about, so I asked him to explain.
“Imagine holding in your hand a very light glass sphere. You hold it in the darkness—the ’void,’ in common terminology. [All around you] is dark, but you see the faint shimmer of the wall of the sphere. Now imagine a flashlight being turned on to shine on the sphere. Everything else around you is still dark, but the sphere becomes visible—the contents of it. And you realize that there are swirling gray mists inside. Before the light shone on the ball, it was all dark. Now that the light is shining on the sphere, it is simply swirling gray mist, because the sphere is contained [and the] light does not cause the mist to evaporate or disappear. The contents keep swirling, but they never are replaced with light.
“This is your human experience. You can see light, and you can see dark, but you are still affected by both. You are a mixture of both.”
Immediately, I had several questions. Apollo recognized that but asked me to suspend my questions for the rest of the day.
Then he continued, “These mists are your emotions and experiences, not your whole personhood or soul or identity.”
He left the conversation there, wanting me to reflect on it for a few days. I think it’s also a very good place for us to stop for this week, for something to consider as we move toward Thanksgiving here in the United States. But don’t worry! In Apollo’s words, “We will come back to this, beloved.”
Do Apollo’s words help you feel better, as they did me? Please email me or comment below. I’d love to hear from you, and I’m sure my other readers would too.
