Healing the Land, Part 1

Healing the Land, Part 1

June 1, 2017 Posted by Stephanie R. S. Stringham Intuitive., Lifestyle No Comments

Last week, I discussed how nature helps me to remember that we are all connected.

As I was in the midst of preparing that post for publication, a kind of nasty thing happened. It’s a typical thing here, but the effects were nastier than we’re used to.

It’s spring, so farmers are preparing to plant, if they haven’t already. In this case, the farmer who commercially farms the land just against ours to the south and west (brown sections in picture below) sprayed an herbicide.

I won’t go much into the details of what happened, mostly because it still hurts me viscerally and saddens me to no end. Here are the basics: The picture above is from a few years ago. We have quite a few more trees and fruit-bearing plants on the property now. The two lines of trees to the east (right) of the house are now larger, as are the trees and bushes on the western and southern borders of our property and a couple of almond trees to the southeast of our driveway (you can barely pick them out in the photo).

We have a fence up all along the border of the field shown in the picture, partly to help prevent drifting snow in the winter, and partly to help protect our property from herbicides and pesticides sprayed by the farmer in the rest of the year. Last year, the farmer extended the land being farmed to the east, but we did not extend our fence.

Last week, the farmer sprayed an herbicide as usual, but after a few days, we noticed that several plants in our vegetable garden (between our house and the field to the south) as well as the windward side (south and southwest) of trees (quince, plum, almond, peach, and cherry, especially) and other plants (flowers and grapes, most notably) all over our property were brown, spotted, gnarled and twisted, yellowed, or even dead. (The below image shows what all of the tulips surrounding our fruit trees now look like.)

I’m writing about this because a friend has asked me to, though it is still challenging to discuss and to write about. How can I explain how much this hurts me and my husband? As I mentioned last week, a lot of our property was commercially farmed before we bought it. (See the picture below, from a year or two before we bought the property. All the brown was farmland.) Needless to say, with the way commercial farming (soybeans and corn alternating in this field) goes, we’ve had some struggle getting the land healthy again.

To heal the land over our 8 years here, we’ve planted hundreds of trees and bushes, amended the soil with organic fertilizers, planted cover crops that add both bulk and nutrients back to the soil … you name it. We rely on natural processes as much as possible and simply give them a boost whenever we must. In fact, my husband and I believe part of the reason we ended up on this land was to heal it.

Ultimately, the reason I’m writing this post is because my friend urged me to. I didn’t want to. It still hurts. But in hindsight, I realize that the spraying event was probably a pivotal moment in our lives. My husband is researching ways both to protect our land further and to offer such knowledge and assistance to organic farms that border commercial-farming operations and are trying to figure out how to protect their own crops.

And I … well, I felt called to share with you some ways that I try to help to heal the land with energy. The first of these is a meditation I was given by my guides, and probably the land itself, as I meditated outside on our lawn last year. The second is the healing visualization I performed the night after we discovered the damage to our plants. Neither is of my own making, really; I was intuitively guided to both visualizations, and I am being prompted to share them with you.

Those meditations will have to come later, however. Though my guides are prompting me to share these meditations with you, every time I contemplate this, I hit an emotional block. A big one. I have to work through it to get these meditations ready for you. So it seems I have Divine homework for this week: to clear at least some of the block and get this information to you.

So that you can hold me accountable—I always work better with a deadline—I’m going to tell you right now to expect a written description of one meditation next week, followed by a longer and slightly more involved written meditation the week after that, and so on.

After that, across one or more weeks, I will create three recordings: one for each of these meditations, plus a longer guided meditation that is a combination of the shorter two.

Thanks in advance for your patience!
