January’s energy is about upheaval or disruption, as indicated by the rune Hagalaz. There is going to be disruption, which will shed light on what’s no longer working in our lives. This may be different for everyone, including relationships, work, a home situation, or something else.

To use the healing energies of the month to their best advantage, we should detoxify whenever possible. Once disruption has shown us what’s no longer working, we have the opportunity to detoxify in that area. For example, if you are experiencing turmoil and disruption in a romantic relationship, you have the opportunity to detoxify the relationship. Perhaps there’s a grievance in the relationship that needs aired, to clear out resentment or misunderstanding. Or perhaps you and your partner are not good for each other in several ways, and it is clear from the relationship, so it is time to end the relationship. Perhaps you have an addiction of some sort that you need to detoxify from, because your health, sleep, or home life is suffering. Wherever the disruption is, you will likely find at least one area in need of clearing.

If you aren’t sure where to start because everything in your life is full of upheaval, you can start by soaking all or part of your body in an Epsom salt bath or doing anything you feel called to do to detoxify. This should help you to gain more clarity on what’s behind the difficulties you’re experiencing.

Dear God and Archangel Raphael, thank you for the disruptions in my life. Please help me to remember that these disruptions are signs, reminders of what I need to fix for my highest good and the highest good of all people in my life. When a disruption appears, please help me to recognize the best way to detoxify and cleanse my life, to heal the disruption, and to move forward in my highest and best form. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
