The overall energy of October is represented by the rune Ehwaz (Movement, Progress). We have done the work in the past few months of getting ourselves ready for forward movement, and now it’s time to actually move. It may help to think of the past few months as planning, preparing, and packing for a long journey. We’ve made all the necessary preparations, and now it’s time to go.

The energy this month supports steady—if somewhat slow—progress. We aren’t getting on a rocket and shooting into the atmosphere, more like getting on a train or in a car . . . or even in a horse-drawn wagon.

The Archangel Raphael Healing Oracle Deck reminds us that we are best supported in the energy of forward movement and progress by getting a good night’s sleep. Adequate sleep is necessary for the healing and optimal functioning of our bodies and minds. (I encourage you, if you haven’t already done so, to read Shawn Stevenson’s book Sleep Smarter to learn about and implement good sleep hygiene, but I will bring some tips from this excellent book to you in posts later this month.) Only with good sleep can we have minds clear enough to tell us—or to receive the guidance from Spirit—the next best moves that will allow us to make this progress that we have been preparing for for so long. And the better our sleep and the clearer our minds, the more progress it’s possible for us to make.

Alignment with This Month’s Energy

Rather than create a prayer to help guide us through the energies of this month, I have included a clearing. Archangels Raphael and Metatron, along with our healing guides and Akashic Records guides, help clear away energies, fears, blockages, and soul-level agreements that could keep us from moving forward at our full potential. Additionally Reiki, or universal life-force energy, helps in this clearing, reminding our bodies of their perfection and preparing us for better rest and movement.
