Over a couple of mornings in late September 2017, I spoke with Archangel Gabriel about his role as Divine messenger. It was largely a simple back-and-forth, without as much nuance of feeling and other energy as many of my encounters. It seemed clear to me that Gabriel was used to communicating concisely with humans. This is the first part, and the second part will follow next week.

SRSS: Archangel Gabriel, thank you for coming to speak with me and my readers. You are often known as the heavenly messenger, but this is not your only role, is it?

AA G: No, it is not.

SRSS: What is one of your other major roles?

AA G: This is difficult to explain. It often goes hand-in-hand with my role as messenger, but it involves bringing feelings—especially of reassurance, and yes, “glad tidings,” is a very good summary, to use the phrase that occurred to you. Most important in my messenger duties is the feeling, the sense of peace and comfort. So it is part of the messenger role, but it goes beyond delivering mere words, mere messages.

SRSS: Can the emotions and feelings be considered part of the total message from God/the Divine presence?

AA G: Yes, certainly, but I wanted to clarify, because so many people think the message is strictly the words that I bring.

SRSS: Thank you, then, for that clarification.

[He inclined his head.] 

SRSS: You appear to me in something like a golden light, and I see you without having a sex assignment, though you appear slightly more masculine to me than feminine. I know some people call you—well, describeyou as female. I know that angels can take on whatever appearance is most needed [in the moment], but can you tell me why, for example, you appear to most people as female but as male .. more masculine … to me?

AA G: This is for a few reasons. First is that most people are more open to receiving messages from women than from men. They find women to be more trustworthy, in general. Second, I appear “feminized” to many people because of this. Even more feminized men seem to be more readily trusted. Whereas Archangel Michael appears fiercely and strongly, and people know he is a protector—he can even inspire fear in the hearts of those he has come to protect or aid—when I appear, people are more likely to be frightened by the fact that I appeared than by my appearance. My appearance is meant to be reassuring, and so, like most angels, I take the form that will work best for the person to which I appear.

SRSS: So as a side note, why does Michael not generally change his appearance?

AA G: It’s all part of his stage presence, as you might say.

[Archangel Gabriel seemed to find this description somewhat amusing, but it was the first phrase that he found in my mind that worked. He gave me the impression that Archangel Michael rather likes the shock-and-awe approach.] 

AA G: Yes, a bit of melodrama does his heart good, our Michael.

[I laughed.] 

SRSS: Thank you for that clarification, Gabriel. I have just one last question for today, if you don’t mind.

AA G: Of course.

SRSS: Forgive me, I’m trying to find the words … This is a follow-up. When you deliver the messages and feelings that you bring, are you working on behalf of God directly, as an emissary for him, or is it on someone else’s behalf, or even your own?

AA G: Of course, this depends on the situation. God is not a micromanager, with his “fingers” in every pot, directing each angel and archangel and other spirit under his care. That would be … ridiculous, to be quite blunt. At the risk of making it sound too human, I’ll describe this more as a corporation—God as the CEO and the rest of us—

SRSS: Angels and archangels, you mean?

AA G: Yes, but others too. The rest of us can be seen like vice presidents, I suppose, but we are also “the grunts.” We …

[I could tell he was searching my mind for a comparison to use so I would understand.] 

AA G: Ah, better. Yes, think of it like the Pope sending out envoys to other nations. We are not missionaries, as that has many … connotations in your mind, but envoys. We have our missions, and we are sent on our missions. How we accomplish the mission is largely up to us, because we have our own lessons and our own things to learn for God. I am seen as a messenger, whereas Michael is seen as a protector, so it is difficult for you to see me as separate from God as the Divine mouthpiece, whereas you can see Michael acting more directly. This is a bit of a challenge, given your human conceptions.

[He paused, again searching my mind for another comparison.] 

AA G: I have been given an overall message to bring to humanity, and I bring that wherever and whenever I believe the time is best, to each person, time, or place. I can see/sense the messages most needed at any time to convey the overall love and personality of God, and I can also see/sense those who are most likely to be receptive to my message and to pass it along to others.

SRSS: Ah. I see.

[The images that he raised in my mind were of him as something like a director of communications for an organization, popping in here and there all around the organization (the world, in his case). The image he showed me was complex, yet simple. I saw the entire earth, but a few “copies” of the planet all overlaid, to represent various times—all happening simultaneously—and a web of light all around the world to show where he has “traveled”—like a graphical representation of where an email has gone once it has been sent to a huge list of people around the world. Occasionally, I saw a light pop up here and there, which Gabriel gave me to understand was someone who would be receptive to the message but had not yet received it.] 

 

SRSS: Thank you, Gabriel, for this understanding. Could you tell me, please, what is your overall message, that main mission that you have been granted by God?

[He smiled broadly.] 

AA G: Love, of course.

[I laughed.] 

SRSS: Yes, I have to say, I think some of my readers are probably going to roll their eyes because every divinity who has spoken with me [to this point, at least] has stressed that love is important, that all that matters is love. Do you have anything to say to the people who think this simply can’t be right, that it can’t be as simple as that, or that we have to do more beyond love?

AA G: Ah, but love is not so simple, is it?

[He spoke lightly, but the emotion he “sent” to me was somber.] 

AA G: Human egos get in the way, and humans often think they are acting out of love when really, they are acting from ego. Love is easy, yes, but many people do not realize true love, because they have learned conditional love, love with strings attached. God has no such strings. God’s love has no such strings. Love has no strings. Love everyone with no strings. Yes, EVERYONE. If you feel called to help someone, ask whether what you want to do to help is based on true love or on ego, or on what you have been taught by [someone or something else] is love. Deep in your heart, when you really allow yourself to feel it, you know the difference between real LOVE and the conditional kinds you have learned. But you must have the courage to face that love, that truth, because it is not easy. Real love is very simple, but it is not easy for humans. You have so many chemicals in your bodies, so much conditioning from centuries of rule and domination of your thoughts and your bodies by others, that it is very difficult for you to find the peace and the love of God inside you.

[A somber pause ensued, and a slight weight settled on me. It was a slight sadness—a deep understanding, an acceptance of this, of us humans, on the archangel’s part.] 

AA G: You are incredible, divine, beautiful, boundless beings connected to God and to all that is beautiful, yet sometimes, you love to focus on the ugly. Earth truly is a place of opposites, where you learn based on extremes, on dichotomies. That’s the way it has been for so long, but that’s not the way it needs to be. You can abandon that concept and simply see the love and the beauty.

You, Stephanie, are wondering how to get this message across, because you know there are those who would say hopelessly that it is impossible to always love and find the peace because so many out there in the world are full of hatred and strife. This is when it is vitally important for you to be the peace and the love. You understand this, Stephanie, but you recognize that many others do not.

Yes, you should keep urging them to “be the change they want to see in the world.” You have had many wise leaders in your world spread this message, and you, Stephanie, have heard their wisdom and responded to it. Many others have, as well. You [meaning me and the others who have responded] are this wave of messengers, diffusing the message to humanity.

Those who are full of hatred cannot learn love by seeing hatred and fear [from others]. Those who spread war cannot learn peace if you respond with hatred and war. Only by being peace and love can you “teach” others peace and love. You cannot love others out of hatred and into love. You can only stand as a shining beacon for those who want to change, who are ready for change. And the more people begin to change, the more people will want to change. This is the nature of any movement—political, ideological, spiritual—the more popular it becomes, the more others want to know about it. It is part of human design. People see your peace and your love, and they want to find [peace and love] as well. Yes, you can also show them your anguish. Don’t pretend that there is no anguish or sadness or anger, because [such pretending] does everyone a disservice. They must know that those feelings still exist inside you, [because otherwise] they will feel shame at finding such feelings inside themselves. And shame leads to human behavior that is not pretty at all. Show them that anguish and sadness can still be—are always—part of a life of joy and contentment.

I was overwhelmed with all of the repercussions and associations flooding my mind and emotions, so I asked Gabriel to stop for today. I loved the overall message, but I needed a break to let all of these things settle in me.
