After a friend came out to me as trans a few weeks ago, I started thinking about how I might be able to help support this person through the transitioning process and beyond, other than simply being a welcome, loving presence in their life.

I know that Reiki can benefit everyone who is open to it, in ways I can’t even imagine, but most people I have performed Reiki for are not LGBTQ—at least not openly—so I began to look up the specific benefits that my LGBTQ+ friends might experience from Reiki. I found several interesting posts, but one especially struck me as beneficial, as it mentions Reiki helping patients overcome body image and self-esteem issues—helpful for almost everyone, but especially those who are struggling with their identities. This post is from Lighthouse, which is a resource for LGBTQ+ folx to find care providers.
