September’s energy is on preparing for the harvest, which entails “sitting back” and letting go of all of the effort we’ve put in toward “making” our goals happen. We’ve planted the seeds, and they’ve been growing. Now is the time for us to nurture them just a little when they need it–watering them occasionally, or getting rid of the pests and parasites that would destroy them. Most especially, however, now is the time to prepare ourselves for the harvest. We can rest, replenishing our energy stores, and thinking through–and then implementing–what we will need to be ready for the harvest.

Self-care is incredibly important during this time, and one of the best ways to prepare ourselves emotionally, physically, and energetically is through massage. Although it can be seen as totally physical, massage also manipulates our energetic and spiritual fields, helping us relax and detoxify at all levels. A massage need not be long or expensive–or even done by someone else–to be beneficial. The most important part is that it helps bring you back into your own body and focusing on yourself, so even a minute or two here and there, massaging your own hand or scalp or shoulders can be of great benefit.

Here’s a prayer to help us remember to take care of ourselves to prepare for the harvest:

Dear God and Archangel Raphael, please help me to remember that I deserve self-care and I need self-care to more fully be who I need to be and to more fully do what I need to do, and especially to heal and to become more fully myself. Please help me in this time of challenge and fatigue to take care of myself and to remember that if I don’t take care of myself, no one else will. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
