In asking my guides what I most need to know today, I was given card 40 of the Spirit of the Wheel deck: Strength, with the key words Offering Assistance, Mediation, and Patience. I immediately thought of the [publishing client] work that I really don’t feel up for today. The book summary for the card led me to feeling good (proud, maybe), but also [to] laughing in chagrin because I’m feeling reluctant but recognize the truth:
You are a natural mediator and very good at encouraging others to do well . . . Accept the responsibilities coming your way by drawing upon your inner reserve of strength. The strength card is never given lightly.[1]

I had difficulties keeping myself going on work for [publishing company] yesterday—another unhappy author whom I can do basically nothing for. It leaves me reluctant to go back to work and face more, so I take more frequent breaks. [I spent as much time outdoors as possible, as time outdoors always revives me emotionally, bringing joy, peace, and comfort in almost every way.]
Mostly, though, my author interactions have been simply sending final files. . . . Essentially, it’s turning into the end stages [of the business’s death]. . . .
So much unsettled. And COVID-19 still affecting our lives, plus police brutality and riots.

When I asked the Oracle what I most need to know today, the rune cards gave me Isa. The description gives metaphysical insight, but I feel today it’s really just a surface issue, the Oracle reiterating the facts for me:
Positive accomplishment is unlikely now. There is a freeze on useful activity. . . . You may be experiencing an unaccustomed drain on your energy and wonder why. . . . Submit and be still, for what you are experiencing is not necessarily the result of your actions or habits but rather arises from conditions about which you can do nothing. . . . [E]xercise caution and do not stubbornly persist in attempting to work your will.[2]
Still no money today [several days after I was supposed to have received payment from my primary publishing client], so I told him as much. He [found that] a court order had frozen [the company’s] accounts again [the company was going through bankruptcy proceedings] and he probably won’t have cash for another seven days. . . . So he suggested that unless I’m “feeling incredibly generous” . . . I should stop working until he gets me paid in full, and I should set an email autoresponder [to notify his clients that I am unavailable until further notice]. I finished today as usual and will follow up with him [again] on Friday, [when he expects to have more news.]
Here we go.

At least now, drawing Isa earlier today makes sense on more than just the obvious level.[3] [Rune messages are] rarely straightforward, after all.
I’m not worried yet. Actually kind of relieved because I don’t feel I need to prioritize [primary publishing client] work that I might not get paid for. I can unreservedly take on projects or clients now, and no more [primary publishing client] frustration and aggravation . . . at least for a while. I feel this frees me for opportunities that I would have closed myself to before.
Here . . . we . . . go!

[1] This entry also appeared in last week’s post, but I have included it again because the focus of this post is a different topic, yet the Oracle message could apply to both, as I referenced in last week’s post.
[2] As with June 4’s journal entry, this Oracle message was included in last week’s blog post, but as typically happens with Oracle messages, in the moment, I thought it applicable to one thing, but in hindsight, I can see that it applied to multiple things.
[3] I can only assume at this point that “the obvious level” was referring to the pandemic, social unrest, and surging costs.
